    Description

    A 5V 2A Type-C input charge and discharge integrated module is a compact circuit board that combines the functions of a battery charger and a boost converter into a single unit. It allows you to build a DIY power bank or provide a mobile power supply for other electronic projects, especially those using 3.7V lithium-ion batteries.

    These modules can be found from various electronics suppliers, with common options using the IP5306 or FM5324GA chipsets.

    Features:

    • Integrated charging and discharging: You can charge a connected battery using the 5V Type-C input and, at the same time, discharge the battery through the 5V USB output to power another device.
    • Boost converter: The module boosts the battery’s lower voltage (typically 3.7V to 4.2V) to a stable 5V output for charging devices via a USB-A port.
    • Type-C input: It features a modern Type-C port for its power input, which is a key advantage over older Micro-USB versions. Many models also include a standard USB-A port for the 5V output.
    • Protection functions: These modules include essential safety features for the battery and connected devices, such as:
      • Over-current protection
      • Over-voltage protection
      • Short-circuit protection
      • Over-discharge and over-charge protection
    • Battery level indicator: Many models feature a set of 4 LED indicator lights to show the approximate state of charge of the connected battery.
    • Automatic functions:
      • It can detect when a device is connected and automatically enable the 5V output.
      • Charging of the battery automatically stops when it is full.
      • The boost converter automatically enters a low-power standby mode when no load is detected.
