The VL53L0X Laser Ranging Sensor is a high-performance Time-of-Flight (ToF) module designed for precise and reliable distance measurement. With a maximum range of up to 4 meters and a fast measurement frequency of up to 50Hz, it is one of the fastest and most efficient ToF sensors available. Unlike traditional IR proximity sensors, the VL53L0X uses ST’s FlightSense™ technology, ensuring absolute distance measurement regardless of target color, material, or reflectance. Its 940nm Class 1 invisible laser emitter combined with a SPAD receiving array and infrared filters ensures robust performance even under challenging ambient lighting conditions. The sensor also supports programmable ROI, allowing developers to customize the field of view for multizone operation and enhanced flexibility. Its compact size, I²C interface, and software support make it ideal for seamless integration into robotics, IoT devices, drones, and consumer electronics.
